Since hundreds of years ago, dancing is part of a great deal of spiritual practice. And Kundalini yoga follows this tradition. I love it! I think it is one of the reasons that I love Kundalini Yoga so much. Mainly because it is varied, surprising and cheerful but also, because it lets me reconnect with my inner light and happiness.
During my training as a Kundalini Yoga teacher, my master Prem Kaur often made us dance to Bhangra music, which is originally from a region in India called Punjab.
We danced to vent energy we had accumulated throughout the morning and help us to release tension, our emotions and our fears.
This particular music and the dancing are very beautiful and are often practised in Kundalini Yoga, as they allow you to attain great interior happiness.
You usually practice this dancing with your eyes closed. Everyone has their eyes closed, and no one is paying attention to what anyone else is doing. This helps each individual to express themselves freely and reconnect with themselves and infinity.
Today I followed my masters’ example and had my students dance to this music. And they loved it just as much as I do.
Now I invite you to dance to this music. To let yourself go to its fast and cheerful rhythms. To free yourself from whatever you need to be freed from (everything you don’t want in your life) and reconnect with yourself, your light and your interior happiness.
Dance! Enjoy! Be happy!
