I imagine that you are familiar with this quote from LaoTsé:

“If you are depressed, you are living in the past. If you are anxious, you are living in the future. If you are at peace, you are living in the present.”

Many spiritual traditions place emphasis on “living in the present” because it is the only way to free us from the weight of our past and of our future.

Our minds are never completely still. The brain is always active, generating 101 thoughts. And as our mind always jumps to negative thoughts first, we can easily fall into negative projections if we aren’t careful.

For this reason, it’s essential to always be aware of our mental processes. Let our thoughts pass by without identifying with them and reconnect to our interior peace through our breathing.

However, it is often so easy to forget all of this. And instead of being happy and being grateful for all the beautiful things in our lives, we spend our time focusing on the bad stuff or what is going wrong.

And that is the worst thing we can do. Because focusing on the negative and constantly worrying, disconnects us from our intuition and creativity, which are essential in attracting abundance to our lives.

So we should follow Yogi Bhajan’s advice:

“Give your worries, your pain, bad luck, anything to God. And take home joy, happiness and smiles. Why do you have God if he cannot take care of this for himself? Do you have God in order to suffer? There is no God that suffers. You suffer. Give God your suffering and enjoy your life”.

May 2017 be a beautiful year… full of joy, love, light… and peace… for all of us!
